Conductive Education

The innovation of
Conductive Education

Rainbow Hub promotes independence and achievement for both children and young people, through the philosophy and practice of Conductive Education Therapy.

This is a holistic conductive educational system using repetitive physical activities incorporating rhythm, song and phrases to help young people with neurological conditions and brain injuries carry out simple movements.

The conditions include Cerebral Palsy, Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), Williams Syndrome, Moebius Syndrome, Downs Syndrome during the early years and acquired brain injury. Conductive learning can also benefit individuals who do not have an official diagnosis and those with global developmental delay, genetic conditions and other physical disabilities.

More active,
independent lives

The aim of the Conductive Education service is to teach children and young people to develop greater bodily control. Not only improving motor skills and function, Conductive Education also looks at development as a whole, including social, emotional and intellectual aspects.

Forget boring appointments, we’re all about making learning fun. Group sessions are led by Conductors and Conductive Learning Assistants, where children develop physical and social skills and gain more independence. Individual sessions can be offered where they are considered to be more beneficial than a group setting.

Age ranges:

  • general questions
  • Is Conductive Education suitable for my child?

Conductive Education is suitable for children and young people who have neurological and motor disorders. We do not decide whether Conductive Education is suitable based on diagnosis. We prefer to meet with you and your child and have a relaxed assessment to decide whether we can help.

  • How will my child benefit?

Children benefit from Conductive Education in many different ways.  For some children it will increase physical abilities and independence and for others it will have other benefits such as improving concentration, choice making and confidence.  We will work with you and your child to find out aspirations.

  • How long is a Conductive Education session?

A full Conductive Education session is 2.5 hours. During that time your child will work through a lying, sitting and, where appropriate, a standing programme. Each task is designed to improve mobility and your child’s understanding of their body.
